We say Brash-looking supercar that turns heads as much for its madcap design as its thunderous V12 engine. Aventador is phenomenal to drive and hugely expensive.Performance Like any supercar, the major talking point with the Aventador surrounds its massive 6.5-litre 691bhp V12 engine. The huge powertrain is capable of propelling the carbon fibre machine to 62mph in just 2.9 seconds and eventually reach a top speed of 217mph. It’s rapid and little else on the market challenges it for pace.Emissions Unfortunately, little challenges it for emissions or fuel economy either. On a combined cycle the Aventador churns out 398g/km in CO2 emissions and returns just 13.7mpg – motoring at its most expensive.Driving First and foremost is the Aventador’s neck-snapping performance. It is electric regardless of what gear or what speed you’re travelling at. That’s not surprising for a Lamborghini but what is a break from the norm is the Aventador’s capability around corners. It handles brilliantly thanks to light, agile steering and plenty of grip.Feel The Aventador is a harsh mistress to tame and the ride is hard, firm and sometimes uncomfortable – although you wouldn’t expect or want anything less from a supercar. It’s gripping and enjoyable.Space As you’d expect, there’s plenty of space for both occupants in the front and little room for anything else. It is comfortable for passengers though, thanks to a brilliantly laid out cabin.Equipment There’s everything you could wish for with the Aventador in terms of equipment and a massive amount of personalisation options. There’s an excellent entertainment system in the slick cabin as well as LCD displays across the dashboard and centre console.Price The Lamborghini Aventador is an expensive machine and costs £242,280. It’s difficult to imagine that price dropping soon either with 18 months worth of orders stacked up for the Italian manufacturer.Quality The overall quality of the Aventador marks a massive step up for the supercar manufacturer. That’s evident in terms of handling but perhaps more noticeable in interior quality. There are much higher-quality materials, solid surfaces and a cool layout inside.Safety There’s a wide range of safety equipment in the Aventador including carbon fibre bodywork, an electronic stability programme (ESP) with ABS and a wide range of airbags surrounding both occupants.Pros Its pros are obvious – it’s rare, it’s stunning and its one of the most powerful cars in the world.Cons It’s incredibly expensive – more so than its rivals – with less storage and practicality.Alternatives Ferrari 458 Italia, Pagani Huarya
