Following on from the successful launch of the new hatchback in 2018, Ford will be releasing the Focus in an all-new guise – the Focus Active.
With crossover-inspired styling, the hatchback will come with a higher ride height, plastic cladding and Ford’s ever-present quality for an affordable price.
Here’s a brief look at what the Focus Active will have to offer…
What engines are available?
The Focus Active will come with three units – one diesel and two petrol – with each available alongside either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. The petrol options come in the form of a 1.0-litre EcoBoost that develops 123bhp or a 1.5-litre EcoBoost the produces 148bhp – both of which can achieve over 40mpg when paired with the manual transmission. The lower-powered offering can also achieve 107g/km CO2.
For the sole EcoBlue diesel, the 1.5-litre unit develops 118bhp and can achieve a claimed 60mpg with the manual transmission. Emissions are also low at 93g/km CO2.
What trim options are there?
Customers will have the choice of two specifications – Active and Active X – with both offering a decent level of equipment. The Active effectively sits in the middle of the Focus line-up and is fitted accordingly with quality kit.
As standard on the Active model, the Focus comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED front fog lamps with cornering function, 30mm higher ride, black detailing on the roof and rails, Active-exclusive styling, selectable drive modes, keyless start and Ford’s Sync3 infotainment system with satellite navigation.
The Active X comes with higher quality equipment, with features such as dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, parking sensors, 18-inch alloy wheels, folding wing mirrors with puddle lamps, partial leather upholstery, keyless entry and start, and six-way electrically-adjustable seats.

On the base level option, Ford offers customers the chance to add parking sensors for £375, the driver assistance pack with adaptive cruise control and auto high beam for £500, and additional safety kit with the £750 convenience pack.
Infotainment options are also available in the form of a £550 B&O Audio System with 10 speakers and the £100 wireless charging pad for compatible smartphones.
How much will it cost?
Prices for the Focus Active will start from £21,900, which is £3,600 more than the standard starting Focus – but this is more of a lifestyle option. For the Active X, prices start from £24,400. The Focus Active is expected to be on sale in Spring 2019.
