SUVs continue to be all the rage amongst UK buyers, and practically every manufacturer is now offering one.
Here, we’re focusing on one of our favourites — the Renault Koleos. It’s stylish, well-equipped and offers good value for money, so we’ve put together a buyer’s guide if you’re looking to make one your next purchase.
What engines are available?
Renault offers a choice of two engines on the Koleos, both diesel and each also linked up to a CVT gearbox.
Starting things is a 1.8-litre unit producing 148bhp and 340Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels, with a 0-60mph time of 11.6 seconds and a 118mph top speed the result. Renault claims the Koleos with this engine can achieve up to 46.3mpg on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 161g/km (Iconic grade).
Topping the line-up is a 2.0-litre engine producing 187bhp and 380Nm of torque. That output is sent to all four wheels, with the result a 0-60mph time of 9.9 seconds and a 123mph top speed. Renault claims a 40.4mpg fuel return as well as CO2 emissions of 181g/km (Iconic grade).
What trims are on offer?
Two trims are available for the Renault Koleos, with the line-up as follows:
Iconic — from £28,495
Standard equipment includes: Full LED headlights, self-parking functionality, blind spot warning, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, leather/cloth upholstery, power-folding door mirrors, ambient lighting, keyless entry, cruise control with speed limiter

Can I personalise my Renault Koleos?
Renault doesn’t offer a personalisation service for the Koleos, but there is a wide range of colours to choose from. Fresca White is a standard option, while for £660 it’s possible to opt for one of seven metallic shades.
For the cabin, a Sierra Brown part leather upholstery is a £1,000 option on Iconic grades along with the same Carbon Block alternative as seen on GT Line. It’s also possible to spec a panoramic sunroof for £900.
