5 tech highlights of the Audi Q4 e-tron

Firm’s latest electric car has all manner of technological innovations

Audi’s Q4 e-tron has arrived as the firm’s second fully electric model, following on from the larger e-tron. It’s a car that is packed with features, as well as the famed build quality that people expect from Audi models.

As well as a variety of specifications, the Q4 can be kitted out with different-sized batteries too. But let’s take a look at what else it has to offer.

It can travel for up to 332 miles on a single charge

When fitted out with the largest battery options, the Q4 e-tron can manage a respectable 332 miles between charges. That said, even smaller battery options can deliver a really good range, with entry-level ‘35’ models capable of returning up to 208 miles of range.

In the middle (in terms of range) sits the 50, which is the more powerful option but returns up to 303 miles of range.

There’s a Sportback option

Inkeeping with the rest of the Audi line-up, a Sportback version of the Q4 is available, bringing a sleeker, more dynamic-looking bodystyle option.

However, the Sportback also has a technical innovation on its side. Given its more slippery shape, it delivers the best range in the Q4 line-up. So while the ‘35’ version of the regular Q4 will travel for up to 208 miles between charges, the Sportback variant betters this to the tune of 211 miles.

It’s based on the same platform as the VW ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq

The Q4 e-tron sits atop Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, which has been designed specifically for electric cars. It’s one that it shares with cars like the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Skoda Enyaq, too.

This platform allows these vehicles to offer an impressive amount of interior space without huge exterior dimensions. A flat floor means there’s plenty of legroom, too.

It’s got a screen-heavy cabin

Audi has gone for the tech-heavy approach with the Q4’s cabin, kitting out with ultra-large screens. In fact, all cars get a 10.1-inch display as standard, though this can be boosted up to 11.6 inches as an optional extra.

As well as this, you get a 10.25-inch digital cockpit ahead of the driver which can be configured to show all manner of readouts as well as crucial information such as speed, range and battery charging status.

There’s the option of a square steering wheel

Now it’s not often that manufacturers mix things up with steering wheel design, but that’s just what Audi has done on the Q4. Available as an optional extra, the steering wheel has an eye-catching flat top and bottom, giving it quite a futuristic look.

It’s also really nice to use, while a variety of multifunction buttons mean you can use it to access certain functions in the car, too.
