To expand the range of options for the 6 Series Gran Turismo, BMW has added a new entry-level diesel engine that it says provides ‘exceptional efficiency’.
Paired to the brand’s eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel has 187bhp at its disposal, as well as 400Nm of torque.
With that power on board, the 620d will be able to go from 0-60mph in 7.7 seconds.
This engine is about efficiency though, and the unit will be capable of returning up to a quoted 58.9mpg and emit 129g/km CO2 – resulting in lower running costs than the rest of the engine line-up available for the 6 Series GT.
With the addition of this option, customers can now choose from five power units to find the engine that suits their needs – as the 6 Series GT also comes with two six-cylinder diesels, a six-cylinder petrol and a four-cylinder petrol.
Prices for the new unit are yet to be confirmed, but expect it to undercut that of the base 530i petrol that starts from £47,930 and the 530d diesel, which has an OTR price of £52,225.
