BMW reveals M2 M Performance Parts Concept

Concept based on the M2 coupe is 60kg lighter than the standard model and comes with exclusive gold detailing.

BMW has taken the covers off its M Performance Parts Concept at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Including existing and all-new performance equipment, the concept is based on the M2 coupe and is decked out in a matte black and gold-detailed livery.

As this concept is 60kg lighter than the standard M2, BMW says that this model’s performance is enhanced and further suited to sporty driving thanks to the use of carbon fibre and other lightweight components.

New carbon pieces include the front radiator grille with gold lining, front side panels, winglets and roof panel, while the forged gold 19-inch wheels are 6kg lighter than the standard milled options.

Carbon fibre is also found throughout the concept, including on the tailgate, rear diffuser and on the dashboard. The seats are also made from carbon fibre and they have been upholstered in alcantara – weighing nine kilograms less than the standard set. Lightweight rear seats have also been fitted to take a further 13kg off the overall kerb weight.

The car also comes with a leather/alcantara sports steering wheel, while the trim comes with plenty of gold edging.

Other lightweight additions include the M suspension, 18-inch sports brakes and a lighter battery – which on its own takes off 14kg.

The M Performance Parts Concept will be displayed at the Festival of Speed and many of the new parts will be available on the M2 later this year.
