Mercedes-AMG E 53 range starts from £61,835

Available as both an estate and a saloon, the E 53 models come with four-wheel drive, a new engine and a mild-hybrid setup.

The latest addition to the Mercedes-AMG line-up is now on sale with the E 53 range having a starting price of £61,835.

Replacing the E 43, 53 models are fitted with a new 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 429bhp and 520Nm – 21bhp and 250Nm more than the outgoing engine in the 43.

That boost in performance is aided by the introduction of the EQ Boost electrification technology, which acts as a starter-alternator and also aids in reducing fuel consumption and improving performance.

When paired to the nine-speed AMG automatic transmission, both the E 53 saloon and estate can get from 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and go on to a limited top speed of 155mph.

As standard, the E 53 gets 19-inch alloy wheels, an AMG performance exhaust, ride control air suspension, AMG dynamic select offering different driving modes, a 12.3-inch infotainment system paired to the 12.3-inch instrument display, leather upholstery, multibeam LED headlights and the parking package with 360-degree camera.
