MG receives largest ever UK shipment of new cars

Close to 3,000 of the brand’s latest cars have just arrived in the UK

MG has just received its largest ever UK shipment of new cars, signifying the brand’s continued growth.

So far this year, MG’s sales have increased by 67 per cent, with the brand already selling more cars in 2021 than it did in the entirety of 2019. Sales look only set to increase, too, as the brand has just received its largest shipment of cars to the UK, with 2,892 models arriving at Bristol’s Portbury Docks, eclipsing the 2,000 models that arrived in October 2020.

MG says the latest arrival of new models help to prepare it for the crucial new ‘71’ number plate that launches on September 1, and signifying the brand isn’t impacted by the same shortages of new models that are hitting many car manufacturers.

More than a quarter of new models are also said to be the brand’s new electric MG5 Long Range, which now gets a larger battery and means it can achieve a claimed 250 miles on a single charge.

MG Motor commercial director, Guy Pigounakis, said: “This is the biggest single shipment of MGs to arrive in the UK and positions us strongly for September. There have been stock challenges across the car industry in recent months due to a number of external forces, so it’s reassuring for both our customers and our dealer network to know that MG is in a strong position, with a wide mix of vehicles available to meet market demand.”

Alongside the MG5, the brand also offers its ZS EV crossover and HS Plug-in electrified line-up. For those not ready to choose an EV or hybrid, the brand also offers its MG3 supermini, ZS crossover and larger HS SUV.
