Pricing revealed for 2019 Mercedes GLE

The new version of the mid-size SUV is available with two engine options and comes with a seven-seat configuration for the first time.

Mercedes has announced pricing for the new GLE, with prices starting from £55,685.

The second generation of the GLE comes with a seven-seat option for the first time, as well as the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system that includes the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice-activated, artificial intelligence assistant.

Customers can choose from two power units – the 300 d diesel and the 450 petrol – that are both paired to the 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

The 300 d consists of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit the develops 242bhp and 500Nm of torque – allowing it to get from 0-60mph in seven seconds and reach a top speed of 140mph. This engine can return a quoted 46.3mpg and 162g/km CO2.

The 450 petrol is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit that is paired to a 48V EQ Boost electrical system, which combine to develop 363bhp and 500Nm of torque. It propels the GLE from 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 155mph – while being capable of achieving 33.6mpg and 191g/km CO2.

The GLE comes as standard with two 12.3-inch displays – one for the instrumentation and one as the touchscreen infotainment – that run the latest MBUX system, 20-inch alloy wheels, illuminated grab handles and running boards, Nappa leather upholstery with wood trim, heated front seats, automatic two-zone climate control and privacy glass.

The GLE 450 comes as standard with the additional two seats, as well as four-zone climate control, air suspension and electrically adjustable rear seats. That equipment is a £1,995 extra for the 300 d.

Further optional packs are available to enhance the GLE’s equipment levels, with driving assistance and technology packs also on offer.

Customers are able to order the new GLE now, with deliveries beginning in the spring.
