Tesla announces UK prices for Model 3

The eagerly-awaited model is now available to order in the UK, with prices starting from £38,900.

Tesla has announced UK pricing for its Model 3, with the model also available with a Performance variant.

The Model 3 has been in production since the end of the 2017, with US customers getting first access. Other European countries have been receiving deliveries from earlier on this year.

UK customers will get their hands on the model in June, with those that have already placed reservations (some as long as three years ago) being the first to receive their orders.

The Model 3 is offered in three trims – Standard Range Plus, Long Range all-wheel-drive and Performance, with the models being priced from £38,900, £47,900 and £56,900 respectively.

Estimated electric ranges vary from 258 mils on the Standard Range Plus to an impressive 348 miles on the Long Range version.

While all three cars offer plenty of power, it’s the Performance model that’s by far the quickest – taking just 3.2 seconds to accelerate from 0-60mph, and having a top speed of 162mph. This makes it the quickest car in its class.

Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, electrically-operated and heated front seats, LED headlights and an upgraded audio system, as well as Tesla’s trademark huge 15-inch touchscreen and the semi-autonomous driving Autopilot feature.

Long Range and Performance models benefit from the Premium Interior package, which adds an improved satellite navigation, heated rear seats, in-car internet streaming and an automatic garage door opening function. Performance models also come as standard with 20-inch alloy wheels, a carbon fibre spoiler and red brake callipers.

Unlike past Teslas, the Model 3 will not have free access to Tesla’s Supercharger electric car charging network, although European cars are fitted with a built-in CCS Charge Port that allows for third-party charging.

The Model 3 is Tesla’s first truly mass-market vehicle, although the larger Model S and Model X have had plenty of appeal. A new SUV – named Model Y – that’s based on the Model 3 was revealed in March and will enter production in 2020.
