Why should a new Hyundai be on your next car shopping list?

Here’s what the brand’s range of models has to offer.

Hyundai has truly transformed its ways in recent years – no longer being considered a budget brand but instead as a mainstream and increasingly a premium contender.

The South Korean manufacturer’s models are now quite often right at the top of their class, while the breadth of choice on offer is arguably the greatest of any manufacturer – from affordable city cars through to seven-seat SUVs, and just about everything in between.

But why should you consider a new Hyundai? Let’s take a look.

Seriously impressive electrified line-up

If you want your next car to be electrified, you’re certainly in the right place with Hyundai. With a choice of mild-hybrid, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full-EV, the brand’s range is exceptional.

It’s arguably the electric models that impress the most, with the Kona Electric and new IONIQ 5 really standing out thanks to their usability, with each offering an electric range of almost 300 miles, along with particularly rapid charging capability. That’s especially true of the IONIQ 5, as with a 350kW rapid charger, its battery can be charged from 20 to 80 per cent capacity in just 18 minutes.

‘N’ brand offers some superb hot hatches

But if you’re not quite ready to make the switch to an EV, fear not as Hyundai still has plenty to offer to petrol heads – not least with the brand’s dedicated ‘N’ performance line-up.

Though Hyundai’s N division might have only been established for half a decade, it quickly gathered serious momentum, with both the i20 N and i30 N hot hatches being considered some of the finest sporting models on the market today.

Its models are brimmed with technology

Hyundai considers itself a technology firm just as much as it does a car firm, with the South Korean brand really leading the way in innovation when it comes to things like EV batteries and also hydrogen power – the latter being somewhere that Hyundai is especially ahead of the curve.

If you look at models like the IONIQ 5, for example, it offers features like a widescreen digital cockpit comprising two 12.3-inch screens for the main touchscreen and digital dials, while its ‘vehicle-to-load’ technology means you can cleverly use the car’s power high-power electrical equipment up to 3.6kW. Models like the Tucson and Santa Fe SUVs also come with a special feature that lets you drive the car using the car’s remote key.

The Santa Fe is a tremendous family car

But among the technology, EVs and performance cars, Hyundai is still impressively talented when it comes to making large family-friendly models – as the brand’s flagship Santa Fe shows.

This large seven-seater has recently been updated with a striking new design and more advanced technology, but thankfully its practicality remains uncompromised. With a huge boot, great build quality and seating for seven, it really is a superb option, and at a slightly more affordable price than many of its rivals.

You get a long warranty

One thing that’s guaranteed, whichever of the brand’s models you choose, is that it will come with a long warranty.

Hyundai has prided itself on this for some time, and with all new models coming with a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty included, it’s one of the best in the business, particularly for high-mileage drivers.
