Why should you consider a Honda?

Here’s why this Japanese marque’s models are worth considering

Honda is a brand that has a far more diverse portfolio than most – from lawnmowers to jets, it truly sells it all.

But it’s the brand’s car range that we’re focusing on here, and though its line-up might not be quite so extensive as other manufacturers, it still has plenty to offer a variety of customers.

Here’s why you should consider a Honda…

Strong electrified focus

Honda has really developed its focus on electrified models in recent years, and while the Japanese firm said initially it would electrify its core European line-up by 2025, that date has now been brought forward to 2022. It’s no fake promise, either, as the majority of Hondas are already sold purely as a hybrid or an EV, with the only exception to the rule being the Civic, which is due a replacement next year and will spawn purely electrified versions.

If you want to cut your running costs with a hybrid or EV – or simply fancy an electrified model the next time around – its models are well worth considering.

Yet performance cars will remain a part of its range

However, while the majority of Honda’s range will be electrified, the brand will still continue to offer combustion models for a select audience thanks to its performance division. Namely, the Civic Type R.

This is widely considered one of the best hot hatches on the market today, and is a true credit to Honda’s engineering, with recent tweaks only making it even better. With the firm confirming the next Civic Type R will continue to be a purely petrol model, it bodes well if you still want something sporty or don’t feel ready just yet for a hybrid or electric car.

Great tech innovator

Honda has been one of the true automotive innovators over the years – living up to its tagline the power of dreams. It was one of the first manufacturers to really invest in hybrid models, with its forward-thinking Insight from the early 2000s, while also being one of the first manufacturers to bring a consumer-ready hydrogen car to the market.

Though Honda's sparkle might have been lost in the past decade or so, this Japanese marque is truly returning to form, with models like the funky Honda e really showing this. Brimmed with technology, from its camera-based door mirror system to a dashboard that’s dominated by screens, it’s one of the most futuristic cars we’ve seen in recent years, regardless of manufacturer.

Fantastic reliability reputation

Another reason to choose a Honda is because of their cars’ impressive reliability record, with its models widely considered to be some of the most dependable on the market – whether you’re looking at the Jazz supermini or the brand’s CR-V SUV.

So if you want something that won’t let you down – especially if you’re looking to keep your car well beyond when its warranty runs out – a Honda is most certainly worth considering.

Big focus on practicality

This Japanese marque is also rather well-known for its cars’ practicality, and perhaps with the exception of the electric ‘e’, its cars are among some of the roomiest in their respective classes.

Even the Jazz supermini – Honda’s most affordable car – gets a far more spacious interior than a more conventional supermini like a Vauxhall Corsa, while the HR-V and CR-V SUVs are very well-suited to being used as a family car.
