We say Spacious, well-built, cheap and comfortable - a car that started a revolution. Sort of. A curiosity , but a very successful one.Performance The Qashqai’s 1.6 petrol is OK, the 1.5-litre turbodiesel provides more low-down pull. Better are the 138bhp 2.0-litre petrol and 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel with optional four-wheel drive. Choice of autobox on most models.Emissions The 1.5 diesel offers 55mpg and 130g/km of CO2 – impressive for a car like the Qashqai.
Driving A little body roll thanks to the Qashqai ‘s high sides, but the ride and drive are generally composed.Feel Work the Qashqai’s engines hard, as you'll need to with the smaller engines, and you'll know about it. Wind and road noise are generally well suppressed though and the crossover is a good cruiser.Space The Qashqai offers loads of space for passengers, with five adults comfortably accommodated in the back. A large boot is practical too; it extends to over 1,500 litres.Equipment Aircon, CD player, alloys, electric windows and a Bluetooth kit are standard on the Nissan Qashqai. Panoramic glass roof and leather are available at top spec.
Price Four-wheel drive Qashqais will take the sheen off fuel economy, which is generally strong but better on the diesels.Quality The Qashqai looks and feels superb inside and mechanicals should be strong.Safety Loads of airbags, ABS but stability control is only an option on entry-level models.
