We say Does what it says on the tin, but there are better cars for about the same price.Performance The Tacuma offers a gutless 1.6 petrol engine or 2.0-litre diesels, neither of which are especially powerful or refined. There’s an auto box on the diesel engine, which may make sense on the motorway but isn’t very good.Emissions The Tacuma’s tired old engines return 32mpg and emit way over 200g/km in the diesel. The petrol is a little better, but not much.Driving The Chevy MPV offers decent steering and handling at best, though the suspension is a little firm.Feel The Tacuma’s engines are noisy when accelerating but the elements don't intrude too much.Space Good space for boot at 325 litres and also in the Chevy Tacuma’s cabin. Rear seats can be removed to free up more space.Equipment Electric windows, CD player and climate control as standard on the Tacuma. Higher trims add climate control and alloys.Price The Tacuma does offer fairly decent prices, with mid-range running costs. Depreciation is likely to hit hard when it comes to selling though.Quality The Tacuma feels sturdy inside and out, though materials inside look cheap and unattractive.Safety ABS and four airbags only on the entry-level Tacuma.Pros Comfortable, decent performance.Cons Price isn't great for a fairly average car.Alternatives Renault Scenic, Citroen Picasso
