We say A Ferrari estate? Kind of. The FF is certainly more practical than most supercars and delivers serious speed, handling and luxury. And a big boot.Performance Because the FF is heavy and designed to carry multiple passengers in comfort, you may think it’s slower compared to everything else in the Ferrari range but you’d be wrong. The FF carries a 6.3-litre V12 petrol engine which boasts a whopping 650bhp. This is enough to give the car a 0-60mph acceleration time of just 3.6 seconds and a mind-boggling top speed of 208mph. Thus the FF can go faster than a lot of current supercars around including even the Ferrari 458 Italia.Emissions If you’re after a Ferrari then fuel and other running costs are probably not a major concern for you. This will have to remain the case with the FF because its fuel economy is recorded at just 18.3mpg and CO2 emissions are as much as 360g/km.Driving The pace of the FF is impressive all-round, particularly in a straight line, while thanks to the four-wheel drive set-up the car also offers a lot of grip and traction. The suspension can be adjusted to various settings including a comfort mode for more relaxed and easy driving. Due to its size and weight, it’s not as nimble around the corners as other Ferraris like the 458 but it’s still quick.Feel All the technology found on the FF, such as the new ‘intelligent’ four wheel drive system, helps to make this car very precise and composed at pretty much all times whilst driving. The engine is very smooth and refined, as is the gearbox although it can get fidgety when you try to reverse-park.Space While the FF has supercar pace, it is intended to be a practical everyday vehicle which you can carry a family in. The Ferrari certainly has a big enough cabin to do this, offering a generous amount of head and legroom for both the front and rear seats. The boot meanwhile has a minimum loading capacity of 450 litres, not far off the amount you get in typical family estate models.Equipment There’s just one specification of the Ferrari FF and as you’d expect for a car this expensive a lot of gadgets and other luxuries come standard. The kit includes a full leather interior, Bluetooth and satellite navigation.Price The Ferrari FF is priced at £227,077 which makes it considerably more expensive than current supercars on the market like the 458 Italia.Quality The interior and all the key components such as the engine and gearbox all appear to be built to a high standard. The FF’s cabin is covered with hand-stitched leather panels, while the dashboard is covered in air-vents and various switches and screens to accompany the steering wheel which is clustered with buttons. It all looks complicated but reliability shouldn’t be a concern.Safety Looking past the immensely strong aluminium passenger cell, the Ferrari FF also has a long list of standard safety equipment. Standard kit includes seatbelt pre-tensioners, front and lateral air bags and various braking aids.Pros The Ferrari FF is hugely fast due to its enjoyable V12 engine; the car also boasts very impressive handling characteristics and decent level of practicality.Cons It’s very expensive and considering it’s more expensive then some of the current supercars around, you might expect more equipment and better fittings. The FF is also very long and heavy which could make parking difficult in tight spaces.Alternatives Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide
