2018 Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe and Cabriolet revealed

The souped-up compact coupe and cabriolet models have received a 22bhp power increase and design tweaks.

Mercedes-AMG has taken the covers off the updated C 43 Coupe and Cabriolet following the reveal of the refreshed Saloon and Estate versions earlier this month.

AMG has managed to squeeze a further 22bhp out of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 so that it now has 384bhp at its disposal alongside 520Nm of torque.

That power unit is paired to the 4Matic all-wheel drive system and a nine-speed automatic AMG transmission, and that allows the Coupe to get from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds (4.6 seconds for the Cabriolet). The top speed of both is limited to 155mph.

The C 43 also comes with AMG Ride Control suspension, which includes adaptive dampers that come with three presets – Comfort, Sport and Sport+. AMG also fits speed-sensitive steering for added control at higher speeds.

The design of the C 43 has been edited slightly, with the redesigned grille including aerodynamic flicks, the side skirts gaining more aggressive styling and a revised rear end that includes the chrome twin tailpipes.

Inside you will find the cockpit trimmed in leather, microfibre and aluminium for the high-quality feel, with optional AMG performance seats offering extra support if needed. The Airscarf neck-level heating comes as standard on the Cabriolet.

To control the optional digital instrument display, the latest AMG leather sports steering wheel includes touch-sensitive pads that work alongside the touchpad and central controller, which also control the central touchscreen.

Prices are yet to be confirmed for the new versions, but expect them to stay close to the £50,000-mark. Order books open in April and deliveries will begin in July.
