Alfa Romeo Unveils Junior Ibrida Hybrid, Priced £6,000 Less Than EV Version

Alfa Romeo has expanded its Junior lineup with the introduction of the Junior Ibrida, a mild-hybrid alternative to the previously all-electric range. The new hybrid model starts at £27,895, making it £6,000 cheaper than the entry-level Elettrica EV.

Mild-Hybrid Powertrain and Performance

The Junior Ibrida is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a 28bhp electric motor. This setup produces a total of 136bhp and sends power to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

0-62mph time: 8.9 seconds

More powerful than the Lexus LBX and Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid

Slightly less performance than some versions of the Ford Puma

The same hybrid system is used in several Stellantis models, including the Fiat 600, Citroën C4, Peugeot 2008, Jeep Avenger, and Vauxhall Mokka

Interior and Technology Features

Inside, the Junior Ibrida shares its layout with the electric Junior Elettrica, featuring a dual-screen setup with two 10.25-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Standard equipment includes:

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility

Eight-colour ambient lighting

Rear seats folding in a 60/40 split

Boot space is 415 litres, offering 15 litres more storage than the EV version, though it remains smaller than rivals like the Volkswagen T-Roc.

Trim Options and Equipment Packs

The Junior Ibrida comes with 17-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights and taillights as standard. Buyers can opt for additional feature packs:

Technology Pack (£extra): Adds matrix LED headlights, a wireless charging pad, and front, side, and rear parking sensors (instead of just rear sensors).

Premium Pack (£extra): Includes tinted rear windows, a leather steering wheel, and massaging seats

Pricing and Market Position

With a starting price of £27,895, the Junior Ibrida is positioned as the entry-level model in Alfa Romeo’s small SUV range. It is:

£6,000 cheaper than the base Elettrica EV

More affordable than the Lexus LBX and Peugeot 2008 Hybrid

Priced slightly higher than some versions of the Ford Puma

Launch and Availability

Orders for the Junior Ibrida will open later this month. With its lower entry price and hybrid efficiency, it provides an alternative for buyers not yet ready to switch to a fully electric vehicle
