Aston Martin announces new Vantage racers for 2019

The new GT3 and GT4 models will be based on the Vantage GTE, which is making its racing debut this weekend.

Following on from the success of the V12 Vantage GT3 and V8 Vantage GT4 racecars, Aston Martin has planned to turn the new Vantage road-going machine into two track-going monster.

The British sports car brand will reveal the two new racers this summer and both will be derived from the latest Vantage GTE, which will be making its debut at the Spa-Francorchamps round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The outgoing GT3 and GT4 cars were based on the old Vantage and are Aston Martin Racing’s (AMR) most successful models.

For the new Vantage racers, both will be fitted with a race-modified version of the road car’s Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 and then tuned to suit the regulation differences for GT3 and GT4 cars.

With AMR already taking orders for these new cars, the GT3 and GT4 will be homologated for racing from March 1, 2019.

David King, Aston Martin Racing president, said: “In motorsport the qualities you’re most striving for are a competitive edge, driveability and the durability to deliver upon it.

“We’ve been able to deliver this to our customers for more than a decade with our Vantage GT4 and more recently with the V12 Vantage GT3. In the new Vantage GT3 and GT4, we intend to build on those attributes as well as continuing to deliver the best looking cars in the paddock.”
