Bentley teases new Flying Spur

A new version of the grand tourer is on the way later this year, with the British luxury brand offering an early glimpse at the car

Bentley has released the first teaser for the next iteration of the Flying Spur.

Only an image of the retractable ‘flying-B’ bonnet ornament and a sketched outline of the body have been revealed, so the firm is keeping its cards close to its chest.

But the next version of the luxury four-door grand tourer is expected to come with similar styling to the latest Continental GT, so expect a new grille design, a sleeker roof line and smoother edges to the squared-off front and rear bumpers.

Engine-wise, Bentley is likely to use the W12 and V8 petrol engines used in the similarly-sized Continental – with the W12 developing 626bhp and the smaller capacity unit producing 542bhp.

Bentley is also expected to introduce an electrified powertrain of some sort, with a plug-in hybrid teaming a V6 petrol with an electric motor the most likely combination.

In the year of Bentley’s centenary, with celebrations taking place in July, it is to be expected that the Crewe-based, VW Group-owned marque will take that opportunity to unveil the next Flying Spur.
