Buyer’s guide to the 2021 Ford Fiesta

Buyer’s guide to the 2021 Ford Fiesta

Here’s what you need to know about the UK’s most popular car

Regardless of what’s going on in the world, you can almost guarantee that the Ford Fiesta will be one of the UK’s most popular cars.

This compact supermini offers a huge amount of appeal, whether that’s for a new driver, as a small family car and even a hot hatch. It’s also one of the best cars to drive in its class.

Ford has also recently updated it with new mild-hybrid petrol engines, and additional driver assistance tech – including adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition to name but a few.

But what else do you need to know about the 2021 Ford Fiesta? Read our buyer’s guide to find out more.

What engines are available?

While Ford has so far offered diesel engines on its Fiesta, the firm has since decided to just focus on petrol models instead.

In fact most Fiestas use a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. You can choose this with 94bhp, 123bhp or 153bhp, with the latter two options coming with mild-hybrid engine technology to enhance both responsiveness and efficiency. All deliver decent performance and efficiency – the mild-hybrids are the best on fuel though, returning up to an impressive 55.4mpg, while the 153bhp model could serve as a warm hatch with its 0-60mph time of 8.7 seconds.

Then there are the ST models, which use a 197bhp 1.5-lite EcoBoost petrol engine. These cars can hit 60mph in just 6.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 144mph.

And for anyone looking for a low-cost Fiesta option, a naturally-aspirated 74bhp 1.1-litre petrol engine kicks off the range.

All models use a manual gearbox, though a seven-speed automatic is optional on the 123bhp model.

What trim levels are offered?

A seriously extensive range of trims are offered on the Fiesta, with kit highlights and prices as follows.

The ST-3 adds larger 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless charging, red brake callipers, various sporty interior touches and heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

What about personalisation?

Much of the Fiesta’s personalisation comes from the range of trim levels on offer – you’re able to choose sporty ST models, chrome-laden Vignale versions and also the rugged Active grades.

A great selection of exterior colours are also available, which depend on the trim you go for – Luxe Yellow (exclusive to Active models) and Ruby Red are particular highlights, though.
