Citroen has introduced a new long-wheelbase ‘XL’ version to the range of its electric e-SpaceTourer MPV.
Joining Medium (M) models that have been the only option available up until now, the XL versions are 35cm longer, and allow for improved interior space and practicality. While the wheelbase remains the same on the two models, the XL adds extra bodywork behind the back axle, which increases the total boot space from 2,550 to 3,100 litres, when loaded to the roof.
Buyers will be able to choose from two trim levels – the fleet-focused Business Edition and higher-spec Flair. The former offers three rows of three, enabling room for nine adults, while the Flair only has two seats up front, making it an eight-seater.
Standard equipment on the Business Edition includes air conditioning, cruise control and a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Flair adds a lengthy list of equipment, such as 17-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, leather upholstery and massaging and electric front seats to name just a few features.
Business Edition models cost from £32,495 in XL guise, which is £500 more than the M model, and just qualify for the government’s electric car grant. Flair models then start from £48,335 for an XL version, which is £880 more expensive than a medium-sized model.
The e-SpaceTourer uses a 50kWh battery connected to a 134bhp electric motor. Citroen claims an electric range of up to 143 miles, while 100kW rapid charging capability means the battery can be topped up to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes.
All versions are now on sale, with first deliveries expected shortly.
