Ford launches new Focus ST Edition as more focused hot hatch

New model gets an adjustable chassis and range of styling tweaks

Ford has introduced a new ‘Edition’ version of its Focus ST hot hatchback, bringing with it a range of performance tweaks and exclusive styling tweaks.

Following on from the brand’s smaller Fiesta ST Edition, this new Focus gets a specifically modified chassis that Ford says has been ‘extensively tested and developed’ at the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit. It also features two-way adjustable coilover suspension that lowers the ride height by 10mm compared to the standard Focus ST, and can be lowered by 20mm more if the customer requires.

With increased spring rates and additional movement in the dampers, Ford says it gives drivers ‘an even greater degree of control over cornering responses’.

The Edition also comes with new lightweight black 19-inch alloy wheels, which are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres as standard. A dedicated Nurburgring driving mode completes the mechanical changes to the model.

Unlike the regular Focus ST, the Edition is available purely as a five-door hatchback (and not an estate), and it’s most noticeable by its bold Azura Blue paintwork. It also gets a range of gloss black detailing to areas such as the grille, door mirrors, rear spoiler and diffuser. The roof is also painted in gloss black.

The Focus ST Edition is available purely with a turbocharged 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Producing 277bhp and 420Nm of torque, it can reach 60mph in 5.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 155mph.

Prices for the Focus ST Edition start from £35,785 – £2,500 more than the standard car.
