Ford updates Ecosport crossover with new ‘Active’ trim level

The new grade brings more rugged styling to Ford’s most affordable crossover

Ford has unveiled a more rugged-looking ‘Active’ trim to the range of its Ecosport crossover.

The Ecosport has been a part of Ford’s range since 2013 as its first small SUV, and was revamped in 2017 with more tech and a stylish new look. And it’s now benefitted from a more robustly styled ‘Active’ grade.

This 4x4-like grade has been introduced across much of the Ford range – including the best-selling Fiesta and Focus, as well as more recently on vans like the Transit Connect and Custom.

On the Ecosport, the grade brings an increased ride height and additional underbody protection to give it a more rugged look. That includes chunkier bumpers, as well as thick black plastic cladding over the wheelarches and sills. On the inside it benefits from revised trim and new ‘Active’ upholstery, including a big ‘A’ on the seats.

Roelant de Waard, vice president of marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe, said: “Customers tell us they love how EcoSport’s bold styling, practical interior and versatility fits into their busy lives, so we’re excited to enhance the SUV with an Active version that delivers even more of those qualities,

“The EcoSport Active will be a new addition to the Active series that offers extra capability and rugged style for customers who want to take their outdoor adventures to the next level.”

Prices for the Ecosport Active start from £21,645 – making it the range-topping model. First deliveries are expected in the first quarter of 2020.
