McLaren to launch 18 new cars by 2025

One of those models will be a successor to the P1 hypercar and by 2025, almost all of the models on offer will be hybrid.

McLaren has announced an advancement of its Track22 future plan by revealing Track25, its initiative for the next seven years.

The plan includes new milestones and goals, such as every vehicle built by the Woking-based brand will be a hybrid by 2025 and it will release 18 new models across its Sport, Super and Ultimate Series line-ups.

One such model will be the replacement for the original McLaren hybrid hypercar – the P1 – which integrated a twin-turbocharged V8 with an electric motor to create 903bhp and reach a top speed of 217mph.

As well as the electrified powertrains, McLaren will look to incorporate augmented reality into the cockpits of its vehicles – further advancing the futuristic aesthetic of the sports car brand.

With the higher number of models in the line-up, McLaren predicts an increase in production of 75 per cent by 2025 – equating to 6,000 cars being built every year at the Woking factory.

Speaking at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Mike Flewitt, McLaren chief executive officer, said: “Everyone at McLaren Automotive remains constant in their focus of designing and crafting the world’s best drivers’ cars. True to McLaren’s spirit, however, our ambitions, continue to grow and our £1.2bn Track25 business plan which covers 18 new models, including a new McLaren P1, is clear proof of that.

“We are a luxury brand that is committed to investing in innovation, whether that’s in the development and manufacture of our own carbon fibre tubs as part of a new £50m British-based production centre, new powertrains with our entire range due to be hybrid by 2025 or the deployment of technology to enhance the driving and owning experience.”
