MG has unveiled a new teaser video of an upcoming EV due later in 2022.
Though details are very limited, the new model doesn’t appear to adopt the popular SUV bodystyle and instead seems to take the form of a more conventional hatchback. MG says the new car is 4.3m-long, giving it similar dimensions to the Citroen e-C4 and Volkswagen ID.3.
The teaser video doesn’t give a huge amount of detail, but the new model – which is rumoured to be called the MG4 – shows the new car looks set to adopt a sharper and more stylish design than the firm’s current offerings.
During the video, MG highlights details such as sharp crease lines, two-tone bodywork and diamond-cut 17-inch alloy wheels, while most prominently at the rear there are large horizontal LED lights that almost merge with the MG logo in the middle.
MG has said that the ‘100 per cent electric vehicle’ will make its debut during the fourth quarter of 2022, with the model being ‘developed with the European consumer in mind’.
The Chinese carmaker already offers three electrified models – the ZS EV, MG5 EV and HS plug-in hybrid – with these battery-powered versions really helping to build the brand’s sales. The firm is also rapidly growing its UK dealer network to increase the brand’s presence.
