New 2022 Seat Ibiza and Arona: What’s changed?

New 2022 Seat Ibiza and Arona: What’s changed?

Seat’s popular compact models are getting a refresh

Since Seat’s latest Ibiza supermini and Arona crossover arrived in 2017, it’s safe to say that both have proven very popular for the firm.

Ideal for those wanting something compact, but still stylish, good to drive and affordable, they certainly tick plenty of boxes. For 2022, they’ve both received updates too. Though not substantial – and a testament to just how good the outgoing models remain – there are a number of things to look out for.

Here’s what’s changed…

Subtly updated styling

It’s safe to say both the Arona and Ibiza continue to look the part, but that hasn’t stopped Seat from making improvements.

One of the most noticeable additions is the new handwritten model name on the rear, while LED headlights are now fitted across the full range. The Arona arguably gets the most changes, as this gets a redesigned front bumper with repositioned fog lights and new silver detailing, as well as a new spoiler and diffuser at the rear of the car.

More upmarket interior

Though both the Ibiza and Arona have good interiors as it is, Seat has worked to improve the feel of the cabin further.

There’s a new Nappa leather steering wheel, while the entire dashboard is now made of a soft touch material to improve the feel of it. The front air vents have also been redesigned and now light up too, with the colour depending on the trim level.

Upgraded touchscreen

Those aren’t the only changes on the cars’ interiors, though, as each gets an upgraded touchscreen to give these Seats a more modern look inside.

Even entry-level cars now come with an 8.25-inch media system, though anything further up than the SE gets an impressive new 9.2-inch unit. This unit also comes with ‘Full Link’ which lets you access a new natural voice recognition service operated using the words ‘Hola Hola’, while also enabling wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is a very useful addition.

New driver assistance technology

Despite the Ibiza and Arona being Seat’s most compact models, the brand has worked hard to pack plenty of technology as standard, especially on the safety side of things.

Already available with the likes of adaptive cruise control, front assist and a tiredness recognition system, the Spanish firm has introduced ‘Travel Assist’ that allows for semi-autonomous driving capability. High beam assist is also now available, along with ‘Side Assist’ that can monitor the vehicle’s blind spots for up to 70 metres.

New trim levels for the Arona

Though the trim levels are remaining the same on the Ibiza, the Arona is having a few slight tweaks.

Previously, it was Xcellence versions that sat at the top of the range, but now it’s a new Xperience grade instead, which brings more rugged styling than before, as well as plenty of standard equipment, including heated front seats, keyless entry and a digital dial system to name but a few features.,

The updated Seat Ibiza and Arona are both available to order now, with prices starting from £16,945 for the former and £19,260 for the latter. First deliveries are due in September.
