Nissan has announced that its new Ariya electric SUV is now available to pre-order, with models starting from £41,845.
The Ariya is a hugely important model for Nissan, and represents the ‘second-generation’ of its EVs, following on from the brand’s hugely successful Leaf, which is produced in Sunderland.
Though Nissan first revealed its Ariya back in July 2020, UK prices have only been announced today, while customers will have to wait until next summer before their car will be delivered.
Four versions of the Ariya are available, with the line-up starting with a front-wheel-drive model that uses a 63kWh battery. Its electric motor produces 214bhp, too, while allowing for a claimed electric range of 223 miles. The rest of the line-up uses a larger 87kWh battery. The first model if a front-wheel-drive model that produces 239bhp, and allows for an electric range of up to 310 miles.
Two all-wheel-drive models are available too – the first produces 302bhp, and promises 285 miles between charges, while a flagship Performance version produces a huge 389bhp, and lets the Ariya accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.9 seconds, though does knock the range down to 248 miles.
Prices for the Ariya start from £41,485 for the entry-level Advance, with the longest-range Evole 87kWh model prices from £51,090. Costs increase to £58,440 for the flagship Performance version.
Andrew Humberstone, managing director of Nissan Motors GB, said: “We are thrilled to be opening pre-orders for our electric crossover – the all-new Nissan Ariya. This cutting-edge EV represents the confidence and dare-to-do ambition of the Nissan brand.
“We’re taking over a decade of experience in leading the market with electric vehicles, and ensuring our customer-focused expertise and network capability delivers a model that’s as rewarding to own as it is to drive. We know that UK customers are going to be seriously impressed with the new standards Ariya will bring to the segment in 2022.”
