Prices and specs announced for new 2020 Skoda Octavia

The popular model is available as a hatchback or estate from launch

Skoda has announced the prices and specs for its new fourth-generation Octavia.

The new model features more striking design, enhanced technology and the introduction of mild-hybrid powertrains  – benefitting from many of the changes seen on the latest-generation Volkswagen Golf that this car shares its platform with. It’s also even more spacious than before.

From launch, there is one petrol and two diesel engines available. The petrol is a 148bhp 1.5-litre unit, which will later feature mild-hybrid tech when an automatic gearbox option joins the line-up. As for diesels, you can choose between a 113bhp 2.0-litre unit paired to a six-speed manual gearbox, or a larger 148bhp 2.0-litre option that’s mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

Prices start from £22,390 for the hatchback and £23,370 for the more spacious estate, with a number of ‘First Edition’ grades available from launch.

SE First Edition kickstarts the line-up – coming with an 8.25-inch touchscreen, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and keyless start to name but a few features.

Next is the SE Technology model, which is tailored towards business users. This adds front and rear parking sensors and a larger 10-inch touchscreen, which is attractively priced – starting from £22,640 for the hatch and £23,620 for the estate.

At the top of the current line-up is the SE L First Edition, which costs from £25,150 for the hatch and £26,225 for the wagon. This grade brings adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, heated front seats and larger 17-inch alloys wheels.

Order books for the new Octavia open in June, with models arriving in showrooms from July.
