Before the model’s full reveal at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show this March, Skoda has announced the name of its next SUV model.
Called the Kamiq, the name has already been used by the Czech brand for a China-exclusive car that has been on sale since last year.
The name follows on from the rest of Skoda’s SUVs by starting with the letter ‘K’ and ending with ‘Q’ – with the Karoq and Kodiaq well-established in the brand’s line-up.
Coming from the Inuit language, the word Kamiq means ‘something that fits as perfectly as a second skin in every situation’.
Set to be an urban crossover, the Kamiq will be the entry-level SUV for Skoda and will become the brand’s first entry into the compact crossover market.

As with every model from the company, the Kamiq will feature ‘Simply Clever’ solutions and the latest safety and driver assistance systems.
