Skoda Scala and Kamiq Monte Carlo confirmed

The sport-looking grade will bolster the brand’s range further.

Skoda has confirmed that it’s expanding the range of its new Scala hatchback and Kamiq crossover with new Monte Carlo versions.

The two new cars will be unveiled at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and will bolster the line-up of these two cars with sporty looks.

The Monte Carlo nameplate was introduced in 2011, 75 years after Skoda scooped second place in the gruelling rally in Monaco that these models are named after.

In 1936, upon celebrating the success, Skoda released a limited production run of its Popular – the model that proved its worth on the rally stage – with just 70 of these being produced.

Since being reintroduced Skoda has launched Monte Carlo versions of its Fabia, Citigo, Rapid and Yeti, although the latter two have been discontinued.

While Monte Carlo models don’t feature any performance enhancements, they come with revised alloy wheels, a sportier bodykit and gloss black accents.

The two models likely won’t reach showrooms for several months after being unveiled in Frankfurt, but the Scala hatchback is already on sale, and is priced from £16,595.

The Kamiq was unveiled in February ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, and will go on sale towards the end of 2019. Prices and specs for Skoda’s smallest SUV are still to be announced.
