What makes Skoda SUVs so popular with car buyers?

It's a record-breaking year for Skoda with its SUVs leading the way, find out exactly why they are car buyers popular choice in the SUV market.

Earlier this month Skoda announced that it had built its millionth vehicle of 2018 – proving that its current range of options are some of the best on the market.

The Czech brand put much of that success down to its series of SUV models, and for British drivers, the Karoq and Kodiaq have proved to be popular. Further afield in China, the Kamiq has proven to be a great option in the crowded SUV segment.

But why are the Karoq and Kodiaq such great options for British drivers – with both competing in the feverously competitive crossover and SUV segments?

Karoq

The smaller of the two SUV options for British customers, the Karoq is the most advanced Skoda model currently on sale – as it can be fitted with the latest safety systems and some excellent features that fit under Skoda’s ‘Simply Clever’ ethos.

Customers can get the Karoq with a kick-activated boot lid, rear view camera and electrically-folding tow bar, as well as a virtual cockpit display in the instrument binnacle and electric seat adjustment.

Along with the high level of technology available, customers will find the Karoq offers a 588-litre boot and VarioFlex seats, which can be moved forwards and backwards to provide more legroom for passengers in the rear or more boot space.

With Scout and SportLine trims on offer, customers will find many customisation options to choose from, and with prices starting from £20,880, it’s easy to see why the mid-size crossover is so tempting for British drivers.

Kodiaq

As the largest model in the SUV line-up, the Kodiaq offers a lot of practicality for motorists as it has seating for up to seven and a large boot. With multiple storage solutions throughout, you’ll be able to get all you need into the car.

Like the Karoq, the Kodiaq comes with many advanced features such as a remote boot lid, parking sensors and large touchscreen infotainment systems. Add to that blind spot detection, park assist and pedestrian monitoring, and you’ve got a very safe car as well.

With the five-seat layout, customers can have 720 litres of boot space, while the seven-seat alternative only has 270 litres of room – but only when all the seats are in use. With all the rear seats folded flat, you’ll find upwards of 2,000 litres of space in both configurations.

As with the Karoq, customers can choose from the Scout and SportLine trim options, but Skoda has recently introduced the vRS version – which offers excellent performance and is the most powerful Skoda SUV ever.

Prices for the Kodiaq start from £28,260.
